WHO: Rose & Lexa
WHERE: The Forest
WHEN: February 20th
WARNINGS: Minor injuries
SUMMARY: Rose isn't doing half as well as she likes to think she is alone in the woods, but turns out she's not actually alone!
It's a pleasant day out in the forest. The birds are chirping, bugs are humming, and the tranquility of nature is all around soothing. Until someone ruins the atmosphere by loudly losing their lunch into some bushes.
"Hrrrrgghh," is a pained groan that follows the horrible retching sound. The bright red staining her chin and lips might be indication of a larger problem; the flavor of it is syrupy sweet though, not coppery. It isn't blood she's vomited up (thankfully) but instead an entire jar of maraschino cherries. Her stomach grumbles and cramps still in protest but feels overall better after emptying the toxic contents. The blond sits down, using a tree for support, and sighs heavily after using her sleeve to wipe off her face. Puking on top of an infected wound was the last thing she needs. She needs to keep food down so she can heal and-
Her head snaps up as sensitive senses catch the presence of something (or someone) else close by. Not an animal... Is it one of those 'walkers'? The woman tenses and keeps quiet just in case it is one of the undead in close proximity. Rose reaches for her blunt weapon, just in case, but the twist of her body causes discomfort from her wound and she gives a quiet hiss of pain. ... Aw, shoot. That's not good. Now whatever it is totally knows she's here.

strolls in late w starbucks my b
Keeping her arrow trained on the other woman, Lexa steps forward, this time giving away her position but offering no words to whether she's a threat or not. A moment of observing the injured woman, Lexa lowers her weapon, deciding that she's not enough of a threat to hold at arrow point. The bow goes to rest over her shoulder whilst the arrow rests in an open pocket of her backpack with multiple others for easy access.
"Ge smak daun, gyon op nodotaim," the words are said smoothly, ah yes, it seems this strange forest woman doesn't speak English. But one of her hands raises up in a placating manner as she steps closer.
did you bring enough for me at least
Before Rose can do or say anything, however, the wild woman appears to take pity on her and lower her weapon. Sweet. She can totally deal with pity sparing right now because she has no doubts she looks as pathetic as she feels. Feverish, remnants of tossed cherries still on her chin, and her hair's an absolute mess. Look. It hasn't been the best of times camping in the woods, despite what she wants all the others back in the city to think.
Then the girl speaks and... Rose doesn't understand a single word of it. "Uhm. Gesundheit?" She thinks? Whatever the other just said, she's going to assume from the tone it wasn't anything hostile.
yes just for you
Lexa's face stays impassive, not really sure what Rose is talking about so instead her eyes flicker over her, looking for he injury. When she finds the spot, her hand lowers to it on herself, offering Rose a small nod, as if to ask her to show the injury. This is a risk she's taking, but if this one is Skaikru, then it's Lexa's responsibility to help her.
When she comes close enough, she shrugs her backpack off and lowers in front of Rose, eyes keeping her in view as Lexa digs through her things, looking for something. What she withdraws is a couple things, the first being a clearly homemade knife, made from ship metal and seat belt. The next is what looks like a pack made from some kind of hide. When it's flipped open, there are an assortment of fresh leaves. There were a few plants that looked similar to the ones from her home, maybe it would be best to test them out on someone else first.
aw yis
On instinct, the blond tenses soon as Lexa reaches her hand towards where she's hurt. It appears Lexa just wants to inspect... and, well, if she can help then Rose isn't about to turn her away. So she unbuttons her shirt just enough to reveal what's causing her all this distress.
It's not as bad as it could be. The stab wound is in the center of her chest; its aim was obviously her heart. What, exactly, she had done to deserve the attack isn't anything she'll readily talk about. Thankfully, this wild woman doesn't seem to be much for talking and that suits Rose just fine. Red, swollen, and with a yellow-ish green tint to it, it's obvious that the wound has become infected. If not by sight then definitely by smell. "Sorry, it's super gross." Yet, despite how long she's left it untended it should be far worse. And for a human, it would be. Rose is still healing it naturally albeit much more slowly than she normally would thanks to lack of food and decent sleep.
"I'm going to assume you know what those do and/or at least know they won't kill me." Referring to the variety of plantlife in Lexa's pack.
c: tl;dr sorry
At the question, Lexa's attention raises to Rose's eyes, but there is nothing that shows she even understands what the woman is saying. That's always reassuring, right? There's no point in telling Rose no, she doesn't know that for sure, because if she doesn't have someone to test them on, she never will. But... She doubts it. At least she's familiar with one of them for sure, and has seen it made into a poultice before. First thing is first though, she holds up a couple of leaves that she assumes should help with pain management... Probably. She keeps the leaves in front of Rose's face, waiting for her to take them whilst also trying to give her the message of 'eat them or chew on them.'
When they are taken from her, instead of trying to reassure the girl, Lexa gets to work, driving her knife into the tree that Rose is resting against. The force behind it is surprisingly strong for someone of her stature, but not supernatural, just practiced. It takes her little time to carve out some of the tree's fleshy wood, leaving it with a gaping injury that already begins to collect liquid. She places the chunk of tree down, then some of the leaves on top of it. Waiting a moment, she reaches out to scoop up some of the liquid that the tree bled out with her knife and wipes it on her makeshift workstation.
Look, she's trying okay, if she makes the not so human woman sick... Well, at least it was with good intentions. At least she looks like she knows what she's doing. The knife goes back in her pack as she digs through it once again looking for something else. What she retrieves is a smooth, round river rock. The rock is then brought over to be used to grind the sap and the leaves together on the tree bark she'd gouged out. She only stops when she has a gross looking green... slop.
Finally, Rose gets a questioning look, asking for permission.
never apologize for tl;dr
"I'm going to take your silence as a yes," she answers for the other, smirking despite herself. The leaves held in front of her face are met, at first, with a skeptical squint. She sniffs them cautiously - even though that isn't a very 'human' thing to do - and ultimately decides that they don't smell like anything poisonous. That she knows, anyway. So she does take them in her mouth and chews. Eh. She's had worse.
Idly, the blond watches the wild woman work. Though she doesn't exactly understand the process, it's something to keep her mind off the searing pain in her chest and how she feels tired to her bones now that she's allowed herself to slow. The resulting green goop that Lexa makes gets a crinkle of her nose. It may look unappealing but the woman gives a resigned sigh and a reassuring (yet obviously tired) smile.
"Alright, then. Let's do this thing."

Lexa opens her mouth, looking almost like she's about to say something as she locks eyes with the woman, but the rapid rattling and crunching of leaves heading in their direction has her jerking her head around. Well, so much for peace and quiet. Except... Lexa snags up the rock, and then her backpack and bow and makes a run for it, darting off into the opposite direction that the infected was coming from. Her footsteps are light, and she harly makes any noise as she disappears into the greenery. Ah, yes, a prime example of how to make friends, leave the injured woman to fend off the rabid people on her own.
Of course, if Rose listens, she'll realise that Lexa hasn't left her at all and instead retreated back into cover to use the injured woman as bait so she can shoot an arrow through anything that looks like it wants to eat Rose when it gets close enough.

It isn't difficult to catch the heavy, awkward footfalls heading their direction. Rose easily identifies them as the undead. She's about to move herself when Lexa suddenly grabs her things and darts off. She doesn't even have time to say 'Wait' before the wild woman's gone back into the woods quick as she originally appeared. Well. Truthfully, the blond couldn't blame her if she had left her behind but... an even closer listen says that's not quite the case.
Smart plan, she thinks. Rose admits she's basically sitting target so why not use that to her advantage. The woman settles in again and waits as the infected shamble closer to her. She still has the strength to fight if necessary, yet... She's hoping she won't have to. It takes trust she isn't sure she has in Lexa quite yet, but the other hasn't done her wrong so far. Might as well hope that stays true.
